Columnar Reflection

Mags Harries' work is a response to the transition from the formal garden to the woodland path at Chesterwood, the studio and summer home of historic sculptor Daniel Chester French. At this intersection there are placed two columns that lead into a majestic woodland landscape. These columns are displaced, holding no weight, no function but as a decorative and pompous element. Columnar Reflection plays on the history of the column and is a transition from the man made tamed garden to the grand scale woods.
